Little talks

10 min read
Hiya!

Looooong time no speaky! I've been neglecting my Deviantart page and relations sooo much for the past two years and I'm so sorry @_@ Life has a way of keeping you real busy at times. Life has in fact kept me so busy that I've barely done any drawing or painting since I last wrote... I hope you wonderful people can forgive me </3

Now, I've been tagged in a questionaire or whatever you want to call it. The tagger is none other than the dear SleepyDuckling and she's challenged me to do something that I won't be able to fully complete, which means I'll have to do something she chooses. Well played, Duckling, well played indeed... ;)

Rules:
1. Write the rules
2. Write 13 things about yourself
3. Answer the 13 questions made by the person who tag you, and make your own 13 questions
4. Tag 13 deviants. And I mean ONLY 13!
5. Make sure that they know that they are tagged
6. Don't say "You're tagged if you read this..."
7. It is forbidden to not tag anyone
8. Tag backs are allowed
9. If you're lazy, don't do it on comments of this journal
10. If you don't make this tag in a week, you need to obey a wish of the person who tags you

My Facts:
1. I talk very little when I don’t feel comfortable or confident in somebody else’s company, but talk too much when I do feel comfortable. xD
2. Sometimes I wonder if I suffer from some sort of social anxiety or just anxiety in general, but mostly I do really well socially. My mind just has a tendency to make me stay at home, safe, out of social gatherings. :/
3. I’m very sociable online and have no trouble befriending people, especially when we start talking through text alone. This is a double-edged blade however, as I fear that I won’t be as “great” once people get to talk to me for real and as such getting to talk to these people afterwards can be a real fear of mine.
4. I study to become a radiographer and I’ve just passed the 2-year mark out of a total of 3½ years. Over halfway done!! Yaaaaaay :D (though I do love being a student)
5. Being so dedicated to my studies, I’ve recently landed a job as an assistant researcher in a national research project. I’ll be starting sometime in August and I’m soooo frikkin excited about it!! X_X
6. My favorite color is red. Seriously, red is awesome!
7. I like both cats and dogs, but I love cats a whole lot more. :3
8. I speak and write English so much that there are things I’m not sure I even know how to say in Danish anymore. Danish is my first language… I also have a tendency to suddenly switch to speaking English from Danish, or to substitute some Danish words with their English counterparts. I also find Danish subtitles very distracting when watching English movies (seriously Netflix, wtf is up with your subtitles??)
9. I play Pokemon GO. It is awesome. Go play it. I mean it.
10. I used to swim a lot as a kid. I stopped sometime in my mid-teens and I really miss doing it now. :/
11. I don’t actually have 13 active friends on DeviantArt so, miss Sleepyduckling has been really clever in choosing me as a victim of her tagging. I won’t be able to really finish the entire list of tasks as they’re described in the rules. #clevergirl #jurassicpark
12. I just used a Jurassic Park reference and I’m not even sure if half of you will get it. ^^”
13. I hug my duvet/a pillow when I sleep, it’s the only way I really sleep well. :3

Sleepyduckling’s questions:
1. Do you like bananas?
- No, I don’t. I mean, I can eat them no problem, but they’re far from my favourite.
2. Have you ever seen a shooting star? Like really seen it and not just pretended to see it?
- Yes! And a lot of them in fact! Last summer a meteorite swarm hit the Earth’s atmosphere close enough to Denmark for us to be treated to quite a view. I went stargazing that night with some great friends of mine and we saw loads of shooting stars! If you ever get the opportunity, I highly recommend you do it. :D
3. Where would you like to go if you could go anywhere? I mean anywhere. A fictional place. In Reality. In SPACE?
- Such a difficult question to answer. O.o I’d love to go to all of the places (at least in peace-time where people aren’t getting killed left, right and center)! I’d love to go into space to see our planet and the moon. I’d love to see all the planets in our solar system, hopefully protected by a tough as nails spacecraft that allows me to see all there is to see without fearing for my life (seriously, space is hella scary! Just a layer of protection, protecting you from the cold void o.O).
Of fictional places I’d really really love to go to Hogwarts. I’d love to browse the libraries and learn all there is to know of magic (seriously, let me loose in a library and you won’t see me again). I’d absolutely love to be part of that world. It’d satisfy my passion for learning as well as my love of wonders.
4. Have you ever helped a stranger? Your aunt does not count. Neither does your cat.
- Well, yes, it goes with the job of being a medical professional, but I have also helped lots of strangers outside of the medical profession. We gotta help each other!
5. Which technological device do you hate the most?
- I’m torn between Apple or Linux devices, simply because I don’t know how to use either which makes me feel stupid…  .-.  I’m really good with Windows so suddenly not being able to do what I knew how to do just upsets me :XD:
6. Which animated movie has made you most upset?
- Upset as in angry or sad? Plenty of movies have made me sad. I’m a very empathic and sometimes sensitive person, so I tend to really get into movies if they’re good @_@ Several anime series have made me cry at the end because of ultimate sadness IN the series. Oh and Pixar also has a way to make movies that prey on my tear ducts q_q Uhmmm… very few things make me really angry and I don’t think an animated movie has ever made me angry.  ^^”
7. Have you ever pretended to speak another language? Like I pretended to speak Spanish for a month to Jesus Elvis. He kindly never corrected me once.
- Plenty of times, mostly while drunk. Don’t think I’ve ever done it with a stranger where I pretended to speak her/his language though. Only jokingly if I so :P (btw, Jesus Elvis is a fantastic name!!)
9. Do you have any siblings? If yes, do you like them?
- Yup! I have a smaller brother (he’s approximately 1½ years younger than me). I love him to bits! We’re great friends and we really support each other well. He was annoying while he was younger (although I was definitely the most annoying of us), but now that we’ve both reached adulthood, our relationship has really evolved even more. ^w^
10. When was the last time you procrastinated? If less than an hour ago, I approve. If it is right now, reading this, I doubly approve.
- I’m procrastinating right now xD Currently thinking about how I don’t like speaking German… can’t they all just learn to speak English, French or something else entirely?? D:
11. Did you notice that question 8 was missing?
- As I write this, I’ve barely slept for 48 hours, so no, I didn’t notice a thing. This excuse is merely hiding the fact that I probably wouldn’t have noticed anyway since….. I DIDN’T EXPECT YOU TO CHEAT!! O_O *angrily shakes fist like a 1970’s British supervillain*
12. I have to ask this, because HISTORY: Which is your favourite historical period?
- Uhmm… so many great periods to choose from. I’m not terribly good with years, though I have a decent understanding of the order of the different time periods and what happened in them (also, I’d have looked it up if I wasn’t sitting on some potato-quality Wifi on a German camping site, in the middle of nowhere). That having been said, ONE of my favorite periods is the Viking Age. Of course I’m biased, being Danish and all, but the Vikings really had a lot going for them and in some ways were more progressive than even most modern societies, as I understand it (women’s rights anyone??)
13. If you could choose to go back in time and live your life again from a certain age, would you? Would you really?
- No, I really wouldn’t. Maybe if I could go forward in time and see if things were better, but never back in time. There’s just so many things that we have now, that I wouldn’t want to be without. :3

My questions for my victim(s)!:

1. Do you have a favorite food or perhaps several? If so, which kind of food?
2. When do you feel the most comfortable? Alone or in the company of others and why?
3
If you could choose any movie you’d like, which movie would you love to have a sequel of?
4. Is there any book, piece of music, movie or something similar that you’ve experienced recently, which you feel has changed the way you look at yourself/life/the world?
5.
What is your favorite mode of transportation?
6. Which countries have you been to other than the country you grew up in?
7. If Donald Trump got into a fight with himself, who would win?
8. If you could get any job you wanted, what would it be? :D
9. Do you agree that musicals are damn awesome?
10. Do you sing in the shower?
11. Which type of TV shows do you enjoy watching most at the moment?
12. Do you have a favorite show?
13. If you could go anywhere at any period in time, wether the place is real or fictional, where and when would you go? If you couldn’t go back, would you still go there?

Alright, I tag SleepyDuckling , Mallemagic , Mellobird and anybody else who feels like doing it! It’s fun! ^w^ (NOW DO IT!!!)

I'm so silly sometimes...

*correction* I'm always silly.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there.

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads.
And mamma in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled our brains for a long winter's nap.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tinny reindeer.

With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!

"Now Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! On, Cupid! on, on Donner and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!"

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky.
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of Toys, and St Nicholas too.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St Nicholas came with a bound.

He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot.
A bundle of Toys he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler, just opening his pack.

His eyes-how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow.

The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook when he laughed, like a bowlful of jelly!

He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself!
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings, then turned with a jerk.
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose!

He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, 'ere he drove out of sight,
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

That really is my favorite christmas poem :D

I wish you all a merry christmas! Now get off the internet and spend time with the ones you love.

So, I'm actually paiting again, who would've thought it? ;D

I'm currently four hours in on this big piece:

I'm feeling really good about this piece, but because of the size, I'm painting it in smaller painting sessions to make sure I don't get bored with it. Still working my way out of this darn art block (which I thought I was out of already).

What are you guys working on at the moment? How much time do you spend on each painting/drawing? Do you create a piece in one sitting, if possible, or do you do it over several days/weeks/months/decades? :)

I realize now that I ended the last journal on a very sad note. Luckily, things are not as gloomy as they may appear. Since I was well aware that I couldn't be sure that I'd get a spot at University College Lillebaelt, I came up with a plan B in advance. ;D

I'm going to pursue another dream of mine, which is to travel abroad, and what better way is there to do exactly that other than by doing it while also increasing my chances of getting the education that I dream of?

I've contacted the volunteer-organization called Projects Abroad, which manges a huge number of humanitarian projects, in developing countries, all over the world. I still have to decide on where I want to go and what exactly I want to do when I'm there, but I know that I want to work in the field of medicine and healthcare. Right now the scales are tipping towards Sri Lanka, but nothing is set in stone yet.

It's going to cost a lot of money, since I'm paying for the whole thing, so right now I'm living with my parents, after having lived with a friend for 2½ years, so that I can save up the money needed to pay for my trip.

Have any of you guys been travelling abroad on your own or do you know people who have? :)

Ahoy thar!

Been a long time since I last wrote a proper journal, so now you're getting one. A lot of things have happened, some of it being water under the bridge, but I guess that's how it usually goes.

Stop speaking in riddles Backfirejr!! Okay okay!!

You might remember, from a previous journal, that I didn't get a spot at the institution where I wanted to study, last year. This year, I made a new application for a spot. So, back in the middle of march, I spent a hell of a lot of time writing the new application, making sure it would be as good as possible. Having written on/off for about four days, I finally finished it. The next day, I went to University College Lillebaelt (UCL for short), where I want to study physiotherapy. As I handed it in, I noticed that there were a lot of people there to hand in their own applications, but I decided to ignore it and stay hopeful.

Fast-forward to the last day in july. This was the day that I would get a response from UCL, via mail, telling me if I'd gotten in or not. I spent most of the day just walking around, not being able to sit still or concentrate. I was totally restless and the only thing that mattered was that darn letter. The hours went by and no letter arrived, making me more and more tense... When I couldn't possibly wait any more, I called the student councellor at UCL, to hear what the verdict was. She spent a few minutes leafing through her lists to find my name, a few minutes which felt like a lifetime, before finally finding it.

... I didn't get in.  My voice was shaking when I asked her why, but I still managed to get some good advice for when I'd apply again.
